Just discovered this project my minds blown. It’s called the 9 eyes of google view. Read the below essay as well.
Every once in a while I come upon some reading that is transgressive or holds a transgressive opinion. In the aforebarely mentioned article the writer deduces that not only were the Beatles overrated but they existed as a way to inoculate the masses from true artistic and cultural Revolution. I felt the need to save it so I can read the article in it’s entirety another day.
This is Jonas Ceika’s magnum opus in my humble opinion. How he (not sure if he is a he or they just going by the voice), very capably traces the history of left wing terrorist movements or left wing sort of activist movements. He unpacks their failures, irrational goals and the few great ideas that they spawned. It’s a very even handed and fair analysis of you ask me. A good way to spend an hour while working for the corporate overlords.
I never grew up on either punk or post punk all these things come into my life waaay past my teenage years, during my continuing volunteering at my local community/college station. What’s interesting is how Jonas Ceila YouTube creator extraordinaire kinda breaks down how post punk reacted to and described it’s time and how we in the present have sort of romanticized this era. It’s a good 30 minute listening while going through excel spreadsheets and meeting glib corporate deadlines on a sunny friday
This article really puts in perspective something we all personally have to grapple with, and that’s our capacity for self sabotage.
Ghost is my favorite rapper, and has been for years. I love reading interviews because you get a chance to see how this man’s mind works. This was a good read
As a Cleveland resident it is always cool to see people I know, local venues and our little radio station (wcsb), get some much needed shine. It’s a small city with a big heart and so the music scene very much reflects this big heart attitude.
I had seen a trailer to this a while back and I knew I should not forget it and alas I both couldn’t catch it when it was showing at a theater near me and I forgot the name of the movie at some point. I needed the algorithm to remind me using numerous prompts to jog my memory. Now that I have posted it on here me and you will remember it for as long as tumblr does it’s thing.
As I write this it’s like almost 04:00am and I should be asleep and instead I am staring at my phone hating on Netflix. This guardian article points to all that is wrong with the world. A world driven by convenience and algorithms. A world I. Which cinematic masters and their works are quietly released on Netflix to little to no fanfare and have to compete with most of the drivel that is peddled to us by the cloud capitalists and algorithmic puppeteers who want to eat up all your attention for money. Sad state of affairs but alas I too am doing it because I am writing this to remind myself to watch this movie tomorrow and to watch the Wes Anderson Roald Dahl adaptations while I am at it.
